This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

Poughkeepsie is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Poughkeepsie is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Wonβt go back. Went because in business many years and good reviews. Got a martini drink that was not filled , old lemon and asked for sugar rim that was a dash of what tasted like mixed salt in a couple spots on glass. Didnβt present well at all. Bread was good. Appetizer calamari eh and the risotto balls were good. Salad dent. Chef special eggplant dish was dry- super dry . Spouses pasta dish lacked flavor. Cheese for it was in the cheese shaker that you use for pizza . Spent $150.00 one drink and one glass wine- a soda . ( salad came with meal) uncharged for Gorgonzola was few bucks . Atmosphere felt dingey . If paying $150 plus tip Iβd like the space to have ambience and the food to be on point .

***Update #2*** Although I'm not a big fan of Aloy's pizza (see below), I ordered one of their other menu items, Chicken Francais, and it was very good. The chicken was tender and the sauce had a nice lemony taste. It came with a salad, which I ordered with with their house dressing with crumbly blue cheese, and pasta in marinara sauce - both of which were very good. We also ordered Tartufo for dessert which was also delicious. I've raised my overall rating from 3 to 4 and now recommend Aloy's. ***Update*** I've had Aloy's pizza a few times now and the taste is really starting to grow on me. Unfortunately they are extremely inconsistent with respect to the crust. The crust is always thin but not always crunchy. More often 'floppy'. Again, interesting/ good taste just very inconsistent when it comes to the crust. *** Original review Despite living in/around Poughkeepsie for 50+ years, I've never been to Aloys. I've heard their pizza is legendary, and the food is fantastic, unfortunately that was not my experience but I'm going to go back and give it another try. For now, all I can give it is 3 stars. On the plus side the staff is friendly and attentive. Although the atmosphere i
